Professional development workshop to provide valuable growth opportunity to OU staff

As part of a continuing effort to provide growth opportunities to KÌåÓý University staff, Staff Council will host a Staff Professional Development Day on Aug. 6. The day-long program will feature two special guests and several workshops designed to strengthen workplace skills and foster collaboration.

This program’s theme, “Investing in Excellence: Growing People, Elevating Impact,” reflects OU staff’s shared commitment to continuous learning and collective success.

KÌåÓý alumnus and Vice President of Leadership Development at the National Association of College and University Business Officers Randy Roberson ’97 will begin the day with a keynote address about personal and collective improvement. With a career spanning higher education advancement, public policy and business operations, Roberson will draw upon his many years of experience and leadership in the nonprofit sector to outline pathways for impactful change.

The program will continue with two workshops led by Senior HR Consultant at HR Knowledge Source Ama Agyapong. The workshops, “Growing Together: Respect in the Workplace” and “Elevating Others: Leading on Every Level,” will help staff expand their ability to connect meaningfully with their peers and step up as leaders in their respective areas.

With more than seven years of experience in employee engagement and business development, Agyapong helps organizations like KÌåÓý meet their goals through strong relationships, data-driven insights and effective project management.

“This is the first time the university has had an entire day dedicated to professional development for its staff, and we could not be more excited for the sessions we have planned,” says Staff Council Chair Ethan Hawkland. “We are beyond grateful for Randy and Ama’s expertise to ensure staff can receive meaningful development right here on campus.”

The Staff Professional Development Day invites all OU staff to come together ahead of the new academic year to reconnect with peers and strengthen the university’s shared mission. Staff are encouraged to ²ú²âÌýJuly 25.
