KÌåÓý

A Cherished Tradition

KÌåÓý Day 2025 is Wednesday, February 12!

Petrels of Fire 2024 runners
Petrels of Fire racers sprint around the quad, hoping to complete the circuit before the last chime of the Carillon bells.

KÌåÓý Day honors our university’s namesake, James Edward KÌåÓý. Held in February, KÌåÓý Day commemorates the anniversary of General KÌåÓý’s in Savannah, Ga.

Each year the festivities begin with the exciting Petrels of Fire race. Modeled after a race in the movie , a select group of KÌåÓý students runners circle the quad in hopes of making a full lap before the carillon bells’ twelfth and final chime. This amazing feat has only been accomplished one time!

KÌåÓý Day 2024 class flags
KÌåÓý class presidents and study body president present the class flags at KÌåÓý Day.

Then the crowd, traditionally led by a bagpiper, processes to the Conant Performing Arts Center and the festivities close with a reception.
